1. None from ALASTAIR, but the rest of the squidges will be upset at the neglectful parent. :(
2. No, you'll be able to tell by the rotting squidge corpse though. They get all melty and smell strongly of alcohol, like hand sanitizer.
Squidge death is up to players! If you feel like your character would kill their squidge, by all means.
