MISSION: LERAMZEN All characters, established or new, will receive a form of this dossier to their devices. Thus, consider all information hereon as ICly available to all characters. Role sign-ups are due 23:59 UTC on 20 May. Roles and teams will be announced on 1 June. Please direct questions here. Due to the short length of this mission, there will be no bounty board. This mission is tentatively scheduled to end on 18 June. LERAMZEN BRIEFING The mission will take recruits to the city of Leramzen, the capital of Borivosk, a wealthy, technologically advanced country on the planet Perun. The Borivoskans have recently recovered a massive diamond from the neighboring planet Vyri, its natives' Renaissance-era technology no match for the Borivoskans' lasers and light shields. The Borivoskans have luckily left the planet alone after plundering it, uninterested in colonization, but the loss of the diamond has shaken the lives of the natives of Vyri. The TIMELINE.exe calculates that within one thousand years, Vyri will reach space age technology and will wage an all-out war on Borivosk, resulting in the destruction of this universe. The energy this timeline generates by its continued existence is more valuable than that which would be generated by its destruction, so the TIMELINE.exe has flagged it for preservation. PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: Recover the diamond. In order to keep the Vyri natives from harboring a centuries-long grudge against the Borivoskans, the diamond must be returned. It is currently being housed in the State History Museum, located in downtown Leramzen. OPTIONAL OBJECTIVE: Replace the diamond with a fake. To keep the Borivoskans from retaliating against the technologically inferior natives of Vyri, it is recommended a fake diamond be created and seamlessly replaced. LERAMZEN OVERVIEW The city of Leramzen is located in a valley and is surrounded by mountains on all sides, its bright lights keeping the eighteen-hour-long nights well-lit and welcoming. The remaining four hours of the day are dim, as the sun barely rises above the horizon this time of year; Audentes will be entering Leramzen in the middle of winter, so dress appropriately! Finding lodgings is up to individual team members; there are a large number of luxury hotels in downtown Leramzen that should accommodate anyone's tastes. You will be provided a higher than average stipend due to the high costs of living in Leramzen, so please be aware of prices and try not to spend it all on souvenirs! The city has a luxurious atmosphere, but it's important to remember that you are here to work. The natives of the planet Perun are similar to humans in appearance and in genetics, but Leramzen itself is a cosmopolitan city and is accustomed to all types of species and lifeforms, so there is no need for cloaks. (NOTE: Human cloaking devices will be available on request from requisitions.) While Borivosk is aware of space travel, your mission to retrieve the diamond is obviously a bit of a secret, so you'll need to be undercover for this one. It is highly recommended you leave animal companions at Oska for this mission, as their presence may be more of a distraction than a boon. The Borivoskan language has been uploaded to your magitek, as it is the only language you are expected to encounter. This will allow for full communication, including reading and writing. Downtown, there is the State History Museum, which is currently hosting the stolen diamond and will be holding a gala in two weeks after your arrival. Every member of Audentes has a ticket to the gala, which your mission analyst, George, has pinpointed as the perfect time to steal the diamond. Please rendezvous with George within your first two weeks in Leramzen so he can provide all the support he can. Your team will be quickly removed from the planet once your mission is complete to avoid detection, so get your sight-seeing done before the gala and try not to get too attached to the natives.

We'll answer here in case anyone else is planning on having their character do the same! Killing in self-defense will result in about three days in solitary. However, if there's purposeful intent to harm, or it's unclear either way, characters will receive the full six days in isolated confinement. In addition, they'll have extra tattoos on their hands up past their wrists, indicating to other inmates what they've done and that they shouldn't be trusted. Attempting to cover these markings up will only make them glow brighter.

They'll just be a solid blue from his fingertips to his wrists -- very hard to ignore!

-the log mentioned a trial! Do we have any ic or ooc idea of when that might happen?

-Also asking for some handwaved interactions! Maya would ask the guards + Cecily some questions about the prison! 1) what kind of crimes do you have to admit to get landed here, 2) are there other prisons like this, or is this maximum security? 3) is it just a prison they stay in until their trial, or do people with a longer sentence also stay there? 4) did prison guards arrest Audentes themselves or was it someone else?

while naruto's kill count would be a resolute 0, kyuubi lives inside him very close to his own consciousness and has killed A Lot More.

would this show on his forehead, and if so how? could he have two figures on his symbol to be Special or would it cancel out his 0 and just show kyuubi's count?

kyuubi never killed anyone while trapped inside naruto, but his consciousness is close enough to the surface that he can be detected when naruto's aura/etc is scanned, hence my question!

1) The trial timing is a secret both IC and OOC. ;) It's coming up soon, though, we promise!

2) As for the questions, the robot guards will not answer anything. It's very possible they cannot speak more than their scripted lines! The alien correctional officers are not in a mood to answer inmates' questions, though they will explain the last one: their prison ship monitors the universe for criminal acts, and the attempted theft by such a large number of people caught their attention. (By this answer, it can be assumed that Asterion Prison is the only one of its kind.)

Cecily has more to say, though she's pretty clueless on some points:

1. She's met people who have done all sorts of crimes, though they seem to be mostly focused on things like murder, theft, and the like. There are no people here imprisoned for littering, for example!
   
2. She's not sure about this one, but she's pretty sure it's the only one.
   
3. She's not sure about this one either, though she can say none of the current inmates have been here more than one year, and all have been told they're awaiting their trial.
   
4. She's a little surprised Maya doesn't know about Asterion Prison, which is a commonly known system in this universe; she'll basically repeat what the correctional officers told Maya, that Asterion Prison monitors the universe for criminal activity and then takes people away, never to be seen again.

Maya would ask both the officers and Cecily, if hypothetically.... time crimes would be enough to get one landed here, like killing or hurting a lot of people in timelines, and how could someone make Asterion prison aware of those crimes if they saw it happening. And what measures could stop them from time traveling out. Hypothetically, of course.

Cecily has absolutely no idea what she's talking about, and asks if maybe she would like to have a chocolate bar. Is her blood sugar low?

The correctional officers are equally nonplussed by the question, but instead of offering chocolate, they offer to take her to the infirmary. It seems no one in this universe has given much thought to alternate timelines.

Sure, she'll take the chocolate bar (free food sweet) and also check out the infirmary to see what's in it / get treated !!

Okay, she'd also ask if killing people on different planets would be enough, how could one theoretically report that, and if any inmates died in prison, if so, where could she find out more about them

here with the important questions: can inmates purchase razors (the really terrible, little, disposable types that make awful makeshift weapons)? if not, is there a ~barber among the inmates trusted with cutting and shaving hair?

There is a prison barber! He is a doglike humanoid and takes appointments. There is always a guard in his "salon" when he has a client, to make sure no tools are stolen.

While in the infirmary, the doctor there scans her head with a glowing light and grumpily says she's fine, stop wasting his time!

The officers tell her there's no reason to report anything to them; their sophisticated instruments find criminal activity everywhere in the universe and pick up accused on their own, independent of any outside sources. They have no comment on inmate deaths, only tell her to watch her back.

Cecily will speak more freely about inmate deaths: she's never witnessed death by the hands of the officers or guards, but occasionally inmate-on-inmate murder happens. From what she understands, the corpses are simply jettisoned out into space.

BUT DOC SHE HAS BOOBOOS....

Maya would ask if criminals can be reported anyway, Just In Case they somehow fooled the scanners.. she'd also try to get her hands on a list of dead inmates/an idea of what they look like if possible! Even if just verbal

(and if successful would she be able to channel/communicate with them at all?)

Also!! Unrelated question! If Maya were framed/wrongfully accused of another inmate's murder (wink), would 1) the tattoos still show up if she were actually innocent, 2) would the guards realize their mistake and let her out of solitary or just not care and leave her in there?

The officers are pretty derisive about the idea that their scanners would miss anything, so they have no comment on how to report crimes. A list of deceased inmates from the past year can be found in the infirmary; the doctor will be unhappy to see her back so soon, but will hand over the list with no complaint.

As for communication with the deceased, we're somewhat canonblind -- what would she require in order to channel them?

Regarding being framed for murder: the death count symbols only count actual murders committed. They are never incorrect, so if she were wrongfully accused, her symbol would still show that she's innocent.

Their name and what they looked like, basically! If she was channeling them, then she basically just draws their spirit into her body (and she physically changes to look like them, sans hair height and tattoos and all) but canon also vaguely states that spirit mediums can communicate with the dead themselves

How much would the guards care if she were wrongfully accused?

In that case, there can be a Polaroid along with each name. What would she ask the deceased inmates?

Since her symbol would show that she's innocent, they wouldn't really do anything.

Would it be possible for her to get thrown into solitary if they thought she was involved or causing a disruption, or is that a no-go?

Questions she'd ask (with Stiles and Peter as backup):

-About the prison, how long they'd been there, if they knew anything about the prison or the trial all the guards keep snickering about, how they died (was in inmate, or something else), what they were in for, if they knew anything about Zymandis or time traveling bad guys

It's pretty easy to get thrown into solitary; if Maya gets swept up in the riots, they'll throw her in there even if she hasn't done anything. Causing a disruption also works.

The dead inmates she's able to channel will have no useful information about the prison or the trial, nor will they know anything about Zymandis. (Most universes, including this one, know nothing about the existence of the larger multiverse.) They will all say they'd been killed by another inmate and were all here for various lengths under one year. Their crimes range from murder to theft to conspiracy.

DEATH COUNT QUESTION since this is a little complicated - Keats is a ghostly creature created from the desires and wishes and memories of a child who took actions that resulted in his OWN death. So, essentially, would suicide be considered a "murder"?

She'd ask them if they knew of anyone who'd been here longer than a year, or if they had any knowledge of why all inmates only remained for only a year, or what happens to anyone that stays longer?
