After some discussion, we've added an individual 75 coin 'light armor upgrade' option you can see above; the upgrade is a magically-deployed modification to the existing uniform that protects the body from light impacts and strikes. It would have to be ICly requested by characters, but the low 75-coin price point should allow most players the flexibility to purchase it if they need it.

Would that work for you, as a compromise?
