You're minding your own business. Maybe you're at work, in class, eating lunch, or just daydreaming. Maybe you're in the middle of an epic battle or at the end of one, triumphant. Or maybe you lost. Whatever you're doing, time suddenly stops. Everything around you is frozen. There's a friendly-looking dog there in front of you, or perhaps it's a serious-looking man in a suit; your recruitment officer is tailored to whomever you'd receive the best. No matter who is recruiting you, the dog (his words appearing in the air like magic) and the man both tell you the same thing: I am a representative of Hathaway. You have been selected to join the guild Ophelia due to your expertise in certain matters. Would you like to volunteer? Hathaway, the representative explains, is a coalition of adventuring guilds who travel across the multiverse to help its inhabitants in whatever way they can. If you volunteer, it needn't be completely selfless -- a variety of incentives are available if providing altruistic aid just doesn't cut it. Upon agreeing, you'll be whisked away to a massive spaceship called Headquarters, where your representative will take you on a tour while explaining more details about Hathaway and what to expect, as well as granting you your very own jewelcomm -- a piece of jewelry that will allow you to connect with the rest of your guild. It's understandable if everything is overwhelming at first, your representative says, leading you to your very own room aboard Headquarters. But everyone gets the hang of it eventually. Let's just hope you work well under pressure, because Ophelia is getting ready to ship out for its next mission. And soon. Futurology is a science fantasy mission-based game where characters are part of a fortune-hunting coalition that is employed by different worlds throughout the multiverse for service and support. The missions are a mix of action/adventure and investigation, and often include morally difficult decisions.
