LOCATION: HEADQUARTERS.

HEADQUARTERS
Hathaway's headquarters is housed in the aptly named Headquarters: a sprawling spaceship of 1600 meters (roughly one mile). This spaceship was commandeered during the war between ALASTAIR and Zymandis, and has been repurposed for Hathaway's use.

Headquarters contains three decks:

UPPER DECK: This is the "work" portion of Headquarters: the bridge, science and medical wing, personnel resources, and guild master offices are located here. This is also where Hathaway's rift machines are located, powerful and complex machines that allow personnel to jump -- or "rift" -- between universes.

Also housed in the upper deck is the training simulator, a large, circular room that is, in its basic state, empty. In order to activate it, one only need announce to the training AI the parameters of the desired simulation, or select one of many pre-installed practice sims. Any injuries one sustains during the simulation will be healed upon exiting; if a character sustains a life-threatening injury, the simulation will automatically shut down.

MIDDLE DECK: This is the living space of the ship, containing entertainment, relaxation, and shopping experiences, as well as living quarters for personnel. The shops, restaurants, parks, gyms, practice ranges, and other facilities are on the main promenade level, while the living quarters are in terraced apartments above, overlooking the promenade below. This deck is also the home to water treatment plants and energy generators.

The promenade level is a wide avenue that takes up nearly the entire 1600 meter length of the ship, its topography similar to an indoor shopping mall. There are green spaces throughout the promenade -- known as parks -- where grasses and trees grow. Some are landscaped with fountains, and there is also a memorial fountain for those who lost their lives during the ALASTAIR and Zymandis war. The parks only have small animals -- think birds and squirrels -- whose purpose is primarily for the viewing pleasure of Headquarters inhabitants.

On either side of the promenade are rows of shops, entertainment and relaxation facilities, and restaurants. Hathaway employs workers from throughout the multiverse to staff the promenade, so expect an eclectic variety!

NOTE: Standard items that you can expect to buy in any modern, real-life shopping mall are available to your character without mod permission. If your character would like to modify these items in a non-mundane way (ex. turning a regular gun into a plasma gun), build something new (ex. making a robot from Sharper Image junk), or buy something unusual, please ask the mods first.

The terraced living quarters are single-room apartments, each equipped with a kitchen and bathroom. Each apartment has a balcony that overlooks the promenade. Due to the large number of Hathaway employees, there are several levels of living quarters -- so your character might wind up having neighbors on all sides. Included furniture in living quarters are a queen-sized bed, a desk with chair, and a wardrobe. The highly customizable Hathaway uniform -- Ophelia's specific standard design looks like this -- can be placed in the wardrobe for repair purposes; the magitek fibers woven into its fabric interact with magitek nodes inside the wardrobe for an almost instantaneous restoration.

LOWER DECK: This is the hangar of the ship, containing a wide variety of surface vehicles that can be used on mission, as well as space shuttles if ship-to-surface transportation is necessary. For defense, the hangar is also equipped with short-range fighter ships.

In addition to vehicles, the hangar also houses a diagnostics and repair garage. Though this is intended for vehicular use, the equipment can be jury-rigged to work on robotics or other engineering apparatuses. The lower deck is also the location of the engine core of the ship.
